Pavlo Sheremeta: If talk about the linking between business and academia, what have you learned from companies? What tools of innovation management do they use?
Michael Radnor: What we learn from big and successful companies was really a better understanding of the innovations tools. They all have to do something with integrating the complexity. Everything changes all the time and you have to be quick. You do not have the luxury to seat and think. You should get into road mapping because it is designed to get together the thinking about the whole system. So you will not only know what are research people doing but you also know what the marketing people are doing and how the law department will deal with the intellectual property, and how the manufacturing people will make it, and how the supply chain will support it, and you need every view point. What is important about the road mapping – it is that you are doing it together. What is not important – the road map picture. Road mapping is not the road map. The working together is important.
